For foodservice operators, it offers an easy way to bring Asian-inspired flavours to a menu without creating a complicated kitchen process. It could work particularly well across casual dining, food-to-go, pubs, cafés and prepared meal concepts.

Why use Riverside turkey mince?

Riverside’s 3% fat turkey mince provides a lean, versatile alternative for dishes traditionally made with beef mince. It is halal certified as standard and manufactured without the use of antibiotics, with a single-source supply chain providing farm-to-fork traceability.

Turkey mince also works particularly well in strongly flavoured dishes such as this one, allowing the Indonesian-style spice mix, kecap manis, honey, soy and lime to remain central to the finished dish.

Ingredients

  • 500g Riverside halal 3% turkey mince
  • 250g egg noodles
  • 2 carrots, halved lengthways and sliced
  • 160g tenderstem broccoli, cut into thirds
  • 4 garlic cloves, grated
  • 2 limes, cut into wedges
  • 2 sachets Indonesian-style spice mix
  • 80ml kecap manis
  • 40ml soy sauce
  • 30g honey
  • 10g roasted white sesame seeds
  • 100ml water
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Method

Prepare the vegetables
Prepare the carrots, broccoli, garlic and lime. Bring a kettle of water to the boil.

Cook the turkey
Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the turkey mince and sliced carrot. Fry for approximately 5–6 minutes, breaking up the mince as it cooks, until browned and cooked through.

Cook the noodles
Pour the boiling water into a saucepan with a little salt and bring to the boil. Add the egg noodles and cook according to the pack instructions until tender. Drain and rinse briefly under cold water to prevent sticking.

Build the flavour
Add the Indonesian-style spice mix and garlic to the turkey. Stir-fry for 1–2 minutes until fragrant. Add the kecap manis, soy sauce, honey and water. Stir well and bring to the boil, then simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly.

Bring everything together
Add the cooked noodles and tenderstem broccoli to the pan. Toss thoroughly to coat everything in the sauce. Continue cooking for 1–2 minutes until piping hot. Finish with a squeeze of fresh lime juice and season with salt and black pepper.

Serve
Divide between bowls and sprinkle generously with roasted white sesame seeds. Serve with the remaining lime wedges.
