Halal Turkey Rashers Omelette

Course : Breakfast/Lunch | Cuisine: British | Servings : 2 persons | Cook Time : 30 minutes

The omelette, a timeless dish with a rich history, is a versatile and beloved meal enjoyed across the globe. Originating in ancient Persia, where a dish similar to the omelette called “kookoo” was made, this simple yet satisfying meal was later refined by the French, who gave it the name “omelette.” Over the centuries, it has evolved into countless variations, each culture adding its own unique touch.

Incorporating our Halal turkey rashers into your omelette not only adds a delicious smoky flavour but also offers a healthier, high-protein alternative to traditional pork bacon. Turkey rashers are lower in fat and calories, making it an excellent choice for those looking to maintain a balanced diet without sacrificing taste. When combined with eggs, a natural source of protein, the result is a meal that is both nourishing and satisfying.

Omelettes are incredibly versatile and can be enjoyed at any time of the day. For a hearty breakfast, pair your turkey rashers omelette with whole grain toast and a side of fresh fruit. As a light lunch or dinner option, consider serving it with a crisp salad or roasted vegetables. You can also experiment with different fillings, such as cheese, mushrooms, spinach, or tomatoes, to create endless variations that cater to your taste preferences.

Including our Halal turkey rashers in your omelette not only enhances the dish’s flavour but also provides a protein-packed, nutritious option that supports a healthy lifestyle. Whether you’re looking for a quick breakfast or a satisfying meal, a turkey bacon omelette is always a great choice.

Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs
  • 4 slices of Riverside Foods Halal turkey rashers
  • 250g of shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 250g cup of chopped onions
  • 250g of chopped bell peppers (any colour)
  • 250g of chopped tomatoes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp of milk
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp of butter or cooking oil
  • Fresh herbs (parsley or chives) for garnish (optional)

Method

  1. Prepare the ingredients:
    • Start by chopping the Halal turkey rashers into small pieces.
    • Chop the onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes (if using).
    • Crack the eggs into a bowl, add the milk, and whisk together until well combined. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  2. Cook the turkey rashers:
    • Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat and add a small amount of oil or butter.
    • Add the chopped turkey rashers to the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the rashers are crispy and browned.
    • Remove the cooked turkey rashers from the pan and set it aside on a plate.
  3. Sauté the vegetables:
    • In the same pan, add a little more oil or butter if needed.
    • Add the chopped onions and bell peppers to the pan and sauté for 2-3 minutes until they soften.
    • If you are using tomatoes, add them in the last minute of cooking to avoid them becoming too mushy.
    • Remove the sautéed vegetables from the pan and set them aside with the turkey rashers.
  4. Cook the omelette:
    • Wipe the frying pan clean and return it to the heat. Add a tablespoon of butter or oil and let it melt.
    • Pour the whisked eggs into the pan, swirling them around to coat the bottom evenly.
    • Let the eggs cook undisturbed for about 1-2 minutes, or until the edges start to set.
  5. Add the filling:
    • Once the omelette is mostly set but still slightly runny on top, evenly distribute the turkey rashers, sautéed vegetables, and shredded cheese (if using) over one half of the omelette.
  6. Fold and cook:
    • Using a spatula, carefully fold the other half of the omelette over the filling to form a half-moon shape.
    • Continue cooking for another minute or until the cheese is melted and the omelette is fully cooked through.
  7. Serve:
    • Slide the omelette onto a plate, garnish with fresh herbs if desired, and serve immediately.
