Who doesn’t love the hot, salty and creamy combination of jalapeño poppers with turkey bacon?

These halal appetisers are the perfect way to greet your guests as they come through the door, ensuring that they’re well catered for in the run up to the main meal. Alternatively, they’re a great idea for group gatherings at events such as sports, celebrations and buffets.

These jalapeño poppers are creamy in the middle with crispy bacon on the outside. They’re easy to make and taste so much better than traditional poppers.

You can serve these hot or cold, and the turkey bacon ensures that they are halal.

Ingredients

  • 12 rashers of Riverside Foods turkey bacon
  • 12 jalapeños, halved lengthwise, seeds and membranes removed
  • 150g vintage cheddar
  • 150g full fat cream cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C. Line a baking sheet with aluminium foil

  2. Mix cream cheese and Cheddar cheese together in a bowl until evenly blended. Fill each jalapeño half with cheese mixture. Put halves back together and wrap each stuffed pepper with a slice of bacon. Arrange bacon-wrapped peppers on the prepared baking sheet.

  3. Bake in the preheated oven until bacon is crispy, 25 to 35 minutes.
  4. Serve your jalapeño poppers with turkey bacon immediately for the most impact.

Chef’s Tip: Wear protective gloves when working with jalapeño peppers to avoid painful skin reactions or inadvertent contact with your eyes!
