Is turkey the new chicken? Turkey has been growing in popularity as an alternative to chicken due to its lower calorie content, lean protein and low fat percentage (with skin removed).
Overall, turkey contains fewer calories and moderately more protein than chicken, except for the chicken breast, which has more protein per serving size of 90g. Turkey also has less cholesterol, less sodium and more iron. Turkey is also richer in vitamins and minerals, such as magnesium, copper, vitamin B12, and folate.
As well as traditional turkey products, you’ll soon be seeing the popularity of non-traditional products such as turkey bacon which is a lower sodium and Halal alternative to pork bacon.
Inline with healthy eating, our new turkey range can be baked and grilled if preferred, though frying is also an option.
Turkey has historically been a popular food source with the sports and fitness industry. Fitness fanatics look to convenience food that provides lean protein, healthy carbs and low saturated fats. Suggestions for this would be our Spicy Chicken Kebab that’s packed full of green salad, lean meat and the potential for a low-fat dressing.
You can find our frozen turkey products in our Gluten Free section. There’s good news too; we’ve got a full range of frozen turkey products coming soon.
